This small wooden deck was in decent shape, but the homeowners were ready for an outdoor space that didn’t need yearly staining, sealing, or repairs. They wanted a low-maintenance backyard to relax and entertain. We replaced the wood with Trex composite.
Project Details
Warner’s Decking of Naperville built this custom outdoor living space in Naperville, Illinois, for a homeowner who wanted a high-end deck with a motorized louvered pergola.
Trex Transcend Lineage Composite Decking
The homeowner selected Trex Transcend Lineage for the deck surface. Composite boards resist fading, staining, and scratching, and they never need sanding, sealing, or staining like wood, so the deck stays looking good with minimal upkeep.
Motorized Louvered Pergola
He also chose an attached pergola with a motorized louvered roof. The louvers open and close to control sun, shade, and airflow, which makes the deck more comfortable and usable through more of the season. Because it’s attached to the house, it connects the indoor living space to the outdoors.
Cable Railings, Privacy Wall, and 5-Step Stairs
Cable railings keep sightlines open while meeting safety requirements, and a privacy wall adds seclusion. A 5-step staircase connects the deck to the yard.
